Political career

He was one of the very first people to get an advantage as a result of the Not Too Young To Run Act. In 2017, Rhodes-Vivour stood for the position of chairman of the Ikeja Local Government Area as a candidate affiliated with the KOWA party. He added that the absence of godfatherism inside that party was one of the primary motivating factors in his decision to run for governor. Nonetheless, the candidate for the incumbent party, the APC, was successful in defeating him.

In the elections for the senate that took place in 2019, he ran as a candidate for the PDP to represent Lagos West. He referred to the incumbent senator as an absentee senator who was wasting more resources on a hopeless campaign for governor in Ogun State rather than concentrating on Lagos West, which had already given him its mandate.

In the end, he received 243,516 votes, which was less than the 323,817 votes that the current senator and former candidate for the ruling party APC, Adeola ‘Yayi’ Olamilekanola, received. This put him in second place. The final tally showed that Adeola won 41.38% of the vote, while Rhodes-Vivour obtained 39.40%. He filed a lawsuit challenging the result, citing election violence and irregularities as reasons why the result should not be recognized as valid.

The court sided with him. Nevertheless, the court determined that this was inadequate, and it validated his opponent’s election to the position.
