Bola Ahmed Tinubu was born on 29th March 1952 in Osun State, Nigeria. He has not supplied any information about his father and siblings. However, his mother is the famed Abibatu Mogaji. She was a Nigerian merchant who ultimately became the Mother of the Market (Iyaloja) in Lagos. She died away on 15th June 2014 at the age of 68. He obtained his basic school education at St John’s Primary School in Aroloya Lagos.

Later on, he relocated to Children’s Home School in Ibadan, South West area of Nigeria. In 1975 he came to the United States, where he enrolled in Richard J Daley College in Chicago, Illinois. After his high school education, he entered Chicago State University for his college studies. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1979.
