The All Progressives Congress (APC) is one of the major political parties in Nigeria. The party was formed on the 6th of February, 2013 in anticipation of the 2015 elections. The People’s Democratic Party had won every Presidential election between 1999 and 2011 and was the presidential political party until the 2015 elections when the APC candidate, Muhammadu Buhari won the Presidential seat.

This article is about the outcome of the 2019 governorship elections for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the controversies that ensued thereafter. Governors in Nigeria are elected for a term of four years and a maximum of two terms.  The All Progressives Congress won the governorship seat in 15 states of the 36 states in Nigeria.

Below is a list of APC state governors, their respective deputy governors and the number of votes won by the APC for each state at the 2019 governorship elections which were held on the 9th of March 2019. The governorship elections were held for 29 of the 36 states of Nigeria.

BRIEF HISTORY OF APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is a Political party in Nigeria, established on 6 February 2013 fully expecting the 2015 Nigerian general elections. APC Candidate  Muhammadu Buhari won the presidential political election by practically 2.6 million votes. The Incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan yielded rout on 31 March. This was the first run through in Nigeria’s political history that an opposition political party unseated an administering party in a general political decision and one in which force moved calmly handing over from one political group onto the next.

BABGANA UMARA ZULUM (Born 1969)

Babgana Umara zulum is the current governor of Borno state. He is also a professor and a politician as well. Babgana Umara Zulum was elected as the governor of Borno on March 9 2019 and he was sworn in on May 29 2019. He is currently 50 years old.

GODWIN OBASEKI (Born 1957)

Godwin Obaseki is the current governor of Edo state. He is a business man as well as a politician. He Godwin Obaseki was sworn in as the governor of Edo state on 12 November 2016. He is serving as the 10th governor of Edo state. He is currently 60 years old.

JOHN OLUKAYODE (Born 1965)

John Olukayode Fayemi is the current governor of Ekiti State.  He is a native of Isan-Ekiti in Oye Ekiti state. He has held the office of the executive governor between 2010  and 2014. He is currently 55 years old.

INUWA YAHAYA (Born 1961)

Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya is the current Executive Governor of Gombe State. He was elected as governor on 9th march 2019. He is a business man as well as a politician. He attended Ahmadu Bello University. He is currently 58 years old.

ALHAJI BADARU  (Born 1962)

Mohammed Badaru Abubakar is the current Executive Governor of Jigawa state. He is the 4th governor of Jigawa State that is democratically elected. He has a B.sc in Accounting from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria. He is currently 57 years old.

NASIREL RUFAI (Born 1960)

Nasirel Ahmad El-rufai is the current Executive Governor of Kaduna state. He was formerly the minister of the federal capital territory throughout 2003-2007. He is also a founding member of the all progressive congress. He is currently 60 years old.

UMAR GANDUJE (Born 1949)

Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is the current Executive Governor of Kano state. He had served as the deputy governor of kano state twice between year 1999, 2003 and 2011. He attended the university of Ibadan as well as Ahmadu Bello University. He is currently 70 years old.

AMINU MASARI

Aminu Bello Masari is the current governor of kastina state. He was formerly speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives between 2003 and 2007. He is currently 70 years old.

ATIKU BAGUDU ( Born 1961)

Abubakar Atiku Bagudu is the current governor of Kebbi state. He had served as the senator for the kebbi central constituency of kebbi state. He attended the University of Jos. He is currently 58 years old.

ABUDLRAHMAN ABDULRAZAQ (Born 1960)

AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq  is the current the Executive Governor of Kwara State. he was formerly the CEO of first fuels limited. He is currently 60 years old.

BABAJIDE SANWOOLU (Born 1965)

Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu is the current Executive Governor of Lagos state. he has attended varieties of Business Schools around the world. He is currently 54 years old.

ABDULLAHI SULE (Born 1959)

Abdullahi Sule is the current Executive Governor of Nasarawa State. He was elected during the 2019 Gubernatorial election. He attended plateau state polytechnic and he is currently 60 years old.

ABUBAKAR SANU-LULU BELLO (Born 1967)

Abubakar Sanululu Bello is the curren Executivet Governor of Niger state. He studied Economics and he is currently 52 years old.

ROTIMI AKEREDOLU (Born 1956)

Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredola is the current Executive Governor of Ondo state. He is a lawyer as well as a politician.  He attended Obafemi Awolowo University. He is currently 63 years old.

DAPO ABIODUN (Born 1960)

Dapo Abiodun is the current Executive Governor of Ogun state. He is a business man as well as a politician.  He is currently 60 years old.

RT. HON SIMON LALONG (Born 1963)

He is the current Executive Governor of plateau state.  He is a lawyer as well as a politician.  He is currently 57 years old.

MAI MALA BUNI (Born 1967)

Mai Mala Buni is the current Executive Governor of Yobe state. He was formerly secretary general of APC. He is currently 52 years old.

MOHAMMED BELLO (Born 1969)

Mohammed Bello Matawalle is the current Executive Governor of Zamfara state. He is currently 51 years old.

HOPE UZODINMA (Born 1958)

Hope Uzodinma is thr current Executive Governor of Imo state. He was declared the winner of the 2019 governorship poll in Imo State which nullified the election of Emeka Ihedioha in January 2020.
