Biography

Bola Ahmed Tinubu was born on 29th March 1952 in Osun State, Nigeria. He has not supplied any information about his father and siblings. However, his mother is the famed Abibatu Mogaji. She was a Nigerian merchant who ultimately became the Mother of the Market (Iyaloja) in Lagos. She died away on 15th June 2014 at the age of 68. He obtained his basic school education at St John’s Primary School in Aroloya Lagos.

Later on, he relocated to Children’s Home School in Ibadan, South West area of Nigeria. In 1975 he came to the United States, where he enrolled in Richard J Daley College in Chicago, Illinois. After his high school education, he entered Chicago State University for his college studies. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1979.

Firsthand racism and prejudice forced him to depart from GTE and join Mobil in the United Kingdom. Tinubu returned to Nigeria in 1983 and continued his career with Mobil Nigeria as an auditor. The Political Career of Bola Tinubu

In 1992, Bola Tinubu entered politics as a member of the Nigerian Social Democratic Party (SDP). In the party, he belonged to the Peoples Front, a subgroup. The Deputy leader of the group was Shehu Musa Yar’Adua. Dapo Sarumi, Abdullahi Aliyu Sumaila, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and Yomi Edu were also members of the People’s Front. Lagos West senatorial candidate Tinubu was elected to Nigeria’s senate in 1993. He served in the Senate Appropriations, Finance, and Banking Committee as a senator.

Tinubu and other pro-democracy leaders formed the National Democratic Coalition after the annulment of June 12, 1993, elections (NADECO). NADECO was set up to bring democracy back to the country and to guarantee that the election results on June 12 were upheld.

Jide Tinubu, the late son of the late Nigerian politician, Bola Tinubu, remains unknown. He had a heart attack in London on October 31st, 2017. In the end, it was established that he had died.
